December 6, 2006 on 4:03 pm | In Idiot Proof Diet Reviews | No CommentsI have been over weight for several years. I have always wanted to loose weight, but was not dedicated enough. After trying the Idiot Proof Diet , I learned that it was alot easier to loose the weight than I though it would have been. I just did what the idiot proof diet generator and handbook told me to do and dropped the weight I always wanted to.

“Acceptance is not submission; it is acknowledgement of the facts of a situation. Then deciding what you’re going to do about it.”
Kathleen Casey Theisen
There’s a particularly well-known doctor in Chicago, an MD with a major medical university affiliation, who runs a wellness and weight loss clinic. What I find particularly intriguing about his method is that I haven’t met one person who has gone to him for help with weight loss and been successful.
I’ve also heard this from colleagues of his, other doctors associated with the same university. It seems no one wants to be the one to break it to him that over half of his patients fail to lose any weight with his methods, let alone keep it off. So, I wondered, how could he not notice? Did he not care?
I decided to ask some of his colleagues why, in their estimation, this was so. After all, wasn’t said diet doctor up on all the latest methods of medical weight loss and motivation, especially considering he’s a “professional” affiliated with such a prestigious university hospital?
“Dr. So-and-So only offers the ’same old-same old’ and people like you who are hyper-insulemic need other ways, better ways that are lower in white starch and sugar carbs,” replied a few of the doctors I consulted. With a shrug, they each added, “He isn’t willing to learn or teach anything else, anything new. His ego won’t let him - so what does he expect?”
If, in your heart of hearts, you know that you’re following your physician’s professionally prescribed program at least 90% of the time and you’re still not enjoying any positive results, you need a change. When your diet’s not working for you - when your doctor’s not working for you - you need to find somebody else, a doctor who understands that you’re obviously different than most of his/her other patients and that you need something other than the old food group pyramid to get you healthier and more fit.
Acknowledge the situation and stop working against yourself. You’re prolonging the agony of being fat. Losing weight ain’t all that hard. Believe me.
Last week, I had a consultation with a prospective motivational weight loss client, and it just so happens she was a former patient of the aforementioned Dr. So-and-So and his wellness clinic. She couldn’t lose an ounce on his “professional” weight loss and fitness plan, either.
This gal sat in front of me for ninety minutes telling me she had been to this doctor, that doctor, and everyone in between - even consulting with Dr. Andrew Weil in Arizona, as well as Bob Greene, Oprah’s diet dude and trainer. And she STILL has not been able to lose any weight! NOTHING worked for her.
“So how can you help me? I’m at the end of my rope,” she pled.
“I’m sixty-some years old with an ailing heart that’s headed for two stents. My arteries are clogged, I have a horrendously bad back with nerve pain to the nth degree, arthritically compromised knees and seventy extra pounds I need to unload.”
And of course, she knows exactly why she isn’t losing weight with anyone else. Or at least she thinks she knows; she certainly spoke like she had all the answers. But then why did she want to talk with little ol’ me and hear about the motivational magic I’ve created while losing 130 pounds in 2 1/2 years on my own?
I tried to tell her that whatever she was doing was not working for her (that was obvious!) and that she should question her doctors. She became incensed at my audacity. “All my doctors come very highly recommended!” she hissed, like I was some sort of an idiot.
“What more proof do you need?,” I replied. “What more proof will it take for you to realize your ‘highly recommended’ doctors and other ‘professional diet experts’ don’t have the right program for you? You might need a second, third, and sometimes even a fourth opinion before finding the way that’s right for you.”
Of course, she would have none of it. After all, she’s been to the best!
Some people are so full of excuses, so full of it, that they are un-coachable, simply unable to be motivated by anyone, doctor or otherwise. If you are unwilling to question the methods that are clearly not working for you and unwilling to even consider finding another way - another doctor, perhaps - I cannot help you. The aggravation wouldn’t be worth the money I’d make, and it certainly wouldn’t be worth the time either of us would waste.
The older you get, the more you realize that time is an all too precious commodity. I have no more to waste. Life’s getting shorter by the nano-second. There are lots of others out there who want, need, seek and appreciate my motivational help.
I was tempted to tell her “When you act like you know everything about the whole diet, fitness and weight loss game and you’re still fat, I suspect you’re that way with everything else in your life and it’s no wonder you’re in the weighty situation you’re in,” but for once I held my tongue. I knew in my heart of hearts that she was way too much of a control freak to let anyone tell her how she had to eat, move and begin to think - no matter how “professional” they were.
I have another friend like this. No matter what I did to lose my weight, no matter which diet, no matter how this or why that that brought me success - she’d already been there, done that, her sister had done it, her mom had done it. She’s always on the hunt for something else “magic and new” to try, and with all that searching, she’s still fat. And jealous that I did it and she can’t.
If you’ve convinced yourself that you’ve been on every diet in the book and know all there is to know about meditation and breathing and self-esteem and positive self-image and exercise and daily walking and diets and white starch and sugar carbs and glycemic index and all the rest of it, and you’re still fat and unwilling to try any alternative methods to help yourself lose the weight you need to lose once and for all - I can’t help you either.
You gotta wanna do something about your weight and lack of fitness. And maybe you just don’t wanna bad enough.
Yet.
